Two Unexpected Visitors

I woke up this morning to an unpleasant surprise. AF decided to show 3 days early, completely depriving me of the to POAS or not to POAS dilemma which I am actually grateful for. I didn't even have time to process the disappointment as I had to run to work and my mind didn't get a chance to dwell on it. So no tears for me! This is the first month I've had no tears for a long time.

It doesn't mean I'm not disappointed. I am. A lot. I want our baby so so bad. But. Something happened that made the oh-another-month-and-still-not-pregnant realization less depressing. Today I got a second unexpected visitor. Except this time she won't be staying just a few days. I get to keep her for life. Introducing you to Tigerlily.

Isn't she adorable? I have completely fallen in love with her already.

I got home to find Mr.T, my SIL and my MIL playing with her in the garden. Can we keep her? I asked. I did just get my period. I looked at Mr. T with sad eyes and my best pathetic pout. How could he have refused?

So we gave her a wash. Cleaned out her ears. Cleaned up her eyes. And then a quick blow dry.

She is now salon fresh and smelling like Pantene. She wolfed down her food and has been sleeping on our sofa ever since. However Mika hasn't exactly warmed up to the idea of an extra furbaby in the house. There has been a lot of uncomfortable staring, some hissing and other weird noises that are definitely unfriendly. And actually, I feel a lot like a parent right now trying to console the older sibling and reaffirming that they are still very much loved.

So even though I didn't get happy human baby news today, I did get a new baby. A new furbaby for our little family. Me, Mr. T, Mika and Tigerlily.
